The traditional Japanese printmaking technique, Gyotaku, is used by fishermen in Japan to record and document their catch.

The traditional Japanese printmaking technique, Gyotaku, is used by fishermen in Japan to record and document their catch.

This technique uses sumi ink painted onto a fish and then Japanese rice paper to gently rub onto the painted fish to leave a printed image.

During this workshop we will use a variety of imitation and real fish to make our gyotaku artworks, so bring an apron to wear and be prepared to handle, paint, and then print real fish.

All workshop materials will be provided.

All materials will be supplied, including fresh fish and imitation fish.

No facilities found.
