Have you ever wanted to knit your own special handmade socks? Well this workshop is for you! Join Blackwattle Alpaca and local Canberran knitting guru, Jacqui Kempton, at their alpaca farm in Murrumbateman this Socktober to learn how. The seven hour Create at Blackwattle session is designed to teach intermediate level knitters basic sock anatomy and take you through all the steps required for creating a knitted sock from the toe up.
Best suited to crafters who already understand the basics of knitting. The technique Jacqui will teach you is a terrific method because not only does it allow you to try your sock on as you go to ensure you have the perfect fit, but you can utilise every last bit of your yarn without the risk of running out.
You will learn how to:
– Knit in the round using one circular needle and the magic loop method
– Cast on a closed toe
– Shape a toe
– Shape a gusset
– Create a heel flap
– Use increases to shape the calf of a sock
At the end of the workshop you will have created a mini sock using all the the above techniques.
