Summertime in Yass Valley

Summer lasts exactly 91 days in 2020, so that means you have to make the most of it! During the season of Summer we celebrate a range of activities and special events, from Christmas’ merry joy, to welcoming in the New Year as well as celebrating Australia day in this beautiful country surrounded by community. So in saying that, it is so important to do summer time right, and spend it in the Yass Valley!

In this short blog, you will be able to plan your #SummerInYassValley without missing a beat, because summer is for adventure, hot days and cool pools as well as creating a lifetime worth of memories.

December

December, a time for gifting and giving, laughter and love with those who you love most. We all know December to be the busy season, with school holidays starting, Christmas Parties, local Community Carols & Late Night Shopping and hosting our families from all around!

While it may seem you have a trillion things to do to get ready for Christmas remember to #ShopLocal and support our region. Take your visitors out and around to our local museums, cafes and restaurants as well as supporting our local artisans in their creations! Yass Valley is full of hidden gems and as a community we are all proud to show them off!

Don’t forget our local Yass Community Markets are on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of the Month, and Murrumbateman Village Markets are on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of the Month.

*Please note this is a small selections of events leading up to Christmas, if your event is not listed please send us the dates and website link to tourism@yass.nsw.gov.au to be included. Please also note some events may require tickets & bookings so be sure to click the link and follow any instructions.

January

A time to welcome in the New Year & celebrate all things Australian is the month of January!

During this time keep an eye on our social media pages as well as our blogs on our website as we will be filling your newsfeed with #NewYearsResolutions, Holiday Inspiration as well as all the latest events, and places to visit!

Be sure to mark Australia Day the 25th of January, and 27th due to the weekend for the celebration in Yass Valley.

The 25th & 26th of January also marks the 2020 Yass Touch Football Knockouts, with $17,000 in prize money!

So keep your eye out for more events and fun filled activities!

Summertime

February

February marks the end of the Summer, so best make the most of it! This means jump in the pool, go kayaking in our rivers and dams as well as enjoy the best Rose’ in the region to keep you cool and refreshed!

Enjoy wondering our local markets, taking the kids to follow the footsteps of our local legends (Banjo Paterson, Hamilton Hume and Johnny Gilbert), and flowing back into the rhythm of life with your New Year’s Resolutions.
